Finalllllllyyyyyyyyyy~

This is the end of this blog. This post I'm typing right now is the last post of this blog. yeayyyy~
well it's not like I hate it or anything..... I like it... no i dont but hey, I don't hate it :) some of the post are actually fun to do.

Okay, enough with the introduction.

During this era, everyone would know what an advertisement is. It's everywhere. You can't hide from it. Sit at home, watch tv, there would be an ad on the tv, sit on your bed, laptop on lap, there would be an ad on the internet, go out walk in shopping malls, there would be people giving out flyers, walk around ignoring the promoter with flyers, and you shall see ad board everywhere you go. Even in car going back to your hometown, bill board at the side of highway, take a train, the train is covered with ad, go take a flight, the aeroplane too is cover with ad.

It's obviously a lie if you say you've never seen an advertisement before. SUCH A LIE.

However, despite the way I talk, I do not actually mean advertisements are bad, just that sometimes it's annoying, only sometimes, but most of the times, it's good actually. It let us know about the world more, about the newest trend, and gives us a lot of information. Plus, as a design student, personally I think it gives us inspiration and ideas. There's a lot of creative ad that could inspire people. Not only that, some people/company also advertise things that are motivational and  full of deep message. These kind of ad are especially good. Surely, each of the ad has affect us in many ways indeed, and none of us could ever imagine a life without it. Many things would change. Economy would fall down and we won't have idea about the world either. Our life would greatly change. And I truly believe, it is a change in a negative way. Advertisement are important.

DONE

This will be the end of this blog.
There shall be no other post.
Thank you very much for reading especially to any random passerby who happen to found this blog and spent time to read this.
Sincerely from me, thank you very much.
It may not be a great blog but I hope you enjoy reading each post.

Art

Wondering why the title called art? Actually, I myself don't even know. For the week 9 blogpost, I admit that I don't really understand what I should post about. Maybe I didn't pay attention in class................................

"oh duh, of course that means you don't concentrate "

However, my friend save me a bit trouble though, I visited his blog and yea, I thought i understand what the topic is but no........

" aiyooo this girl, see example already also no understand ah? "

okay I know, god, I'm such a dissapointment......
But heyyyyy, I did catch some bits of understanding!
That's why I'm going to talk about Ocean!

Come on picture an OCEAN!

If you can't, let me be kind and help you

So what comes in your mind? perhaps summer, or pineapple, or shining sun, pirates, cool salty water and others yes?

BUT THEN!

what if it was with THIS STYLE

Does it change? All you summer sunburn pineapple cocktail whatever has surely disappear right? and surely, it changes to Japan kind of feelings.
No matter how long time passed, this old art style will forever represent Japan. And now matter how we try to make a new style of it, it won't gives us the strong feeling of Japan as much as this one. Furthermore, people will always love this style, maybe if it becomes popular people would get bored of it, but not for long, once it suddenly not popular any more and it died down for a while, people would start to miss it again, and this cycle would go again and again. Time cannot kill art. Art will forever be glorious.

Random Words Association

What the heck is that? probably what you would think when you read that title there.
Want to know?
EASY!
keep reading and you shall find out!

The title there means that it's a combination of two different irrelevant word that would result to a logical thing. It may not be logic but well, make sense.

During the lecture, we were given two words, which is

Traffic light

and stop people from smoking

So, what should I do?

* thinking for a very very very very long time*

hmmmmmmm, the first one, I think it would be.... They should make a cigarette that have marks or colour on it, like the colour of traffic lights, then on the green part, it would be like the normal cigarette taste/feel, then on the yellow part, the cigarette would reduce really fast, and when it comes to the red part, it would be really hard to suck. What connection to it with traffic light is that, yea, during green light, we can cross the road easily, but when it's come to the yellow, we would be      rushing to go, and on the red light, hardly we could move from the spot, even though there aren't many cars, it is still hard to cross.

The another one maybe they should create a cigarette with a countdown written on it. At the starting would be 10 maybe, then 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,and 1 at the end. So that it is like, they are waiting for it, waiting for their lungs to get worse, then only stop..... well probably not stop by themselve, but by death.....
Waiting, just like at the traffic light, you are waiting for it so you can cross the road.

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition
Jux Jux Juxta Juxta po po posiiiii tioooooooooooooooonnnnnnnn~~~~~~~~

Man, I never knew such word exist, but now, when I knew, I like that word. Nice to meet you, Juxtaposition.

During class in around week 7, Monday morning, gifted with fresh air, we were sitting in a theatre room called the E-theatre. We were given a piece of paper, A2size..... or was it A3.... I can't remember.........
Oh well, back to the story, we were ask to pick a number between 0 to 99, three sets of numbers, and then, Mr. Radzi gives us this :-

1- Flower
2- Lightning
3- Ice
4- Light
5- Fire
6- Duck
7- Dog
8- Oil
9- Leave
0-Fly

0- Head
9- Rain
8- Wood
7- Tree
6- Spider
5- Root
4- Mountain
3- Wind
2- Rock
1- Water

and then, we have to make a word according to the word and the pair of numbers that we chose.
I chose 92, 29, and 47.

-so for the first one is, Leave Rock

The autumn leaves has fall and covered the rock.

-Lightning Rain

The lightning strikes brightly and a heavy rain came soon after

-Light Tree

The colorful light was wrapped around the tree during festivals.

Done with that, now we have to draw it out!

leaves rock

lightning raining

light tree

Lastly, draw out the things, not following the sentence that we made, but people would somehow say those three words we got

Done~

am I good? :D

maybe not huh.... but that was what I draw that time :D

Next! I seriously thought we're done but no.....

We have to create a passage about love, man or woman, happiness, and pain.

So here the first one!

Love

Love is like a wall, they cover you up and make you unable to see what's in front, being blinded, and separates you from the social life with other people. (except your partner of course)

Man and Women

They are human, with opposites desire, which then makes them perfect when they combined. One loves to do, and one loves to be getting it, if you know what I mean.

Happiness

Happiness is just like studying, you don't need to study hard, just study smart. Be smart in making choices, and you shall get the happiness that you desire.

Pain.

Pain is training. It's like in the army. The more pain you get, the more you will learn to be strong and not feel the pain.

Mortar and Pestle

So during one of the week, during lecture on one fine Monday, Mr Radzi talk about something relevant to Mortar and Pestle. Do you know what it is? here, photo explains best.

So it seems that we're suppose to do something with the Mortar and pestle, something about man and woman or something.
Well, if you are asking for a metaphor, I guess I could say......

Men are like mortar, while women are like pestle,
they could hardly be apart of each other,
even if they are apart,
they wouldn't be making anything,
they would sit still,
stay loyal,
for their partner,
they would be useless,
But if they were together,
Anything would be overcome,
crash and beat everything,
till no one can stop them........

so how was it? it may not sound so much like a poem, but hey, I did try my best. Well, here another two, but this time, I making a mind map out of it, remember I talk about mind map in the previous post?

Mind map

Do you know what mind map is?
I bet everyone know! but just in case you don't, I'll save a trouble for you by posting a link for an explanation about what a mind map is! and for those who already knew, just click it too! Because you will surely understand more deeper about it!

And if you want to see an example of it, here! take a look on this mind map that I made myself! It's all about me!

See??? Instead of writing an essay for you to read to get-to-know me, I save you a lot of trouble by making this mind map! it's easier to understand, fun to read, and also save your time!

Historical Examination on Creativity

*cough*

Okay sorry I have no idea how to start so I cough. tee-hee.

We are supposed to do some research on people and the time to make us understand more about creativity. Now, I will not focused only on certain civilization or era, but I would make a general research about it. The common things that are affecting us or things that are relevant to being creative.

Guess I will start with the first question of week 4 blogpost ( now is week 13 tee-hee )

What kind of TRAITs make people creative?
according to my observation as well as some little research that I have done, I realized that some of the famous and amazing piece were actually a copy. Of course not everyone does this, but I can say around 50% of some creative piece was actually a copy. In other words, these people develop the trait to copy someone's original idea and improve or "sharpen" it. I wouldn't say that they are copy cat, because it is in fact, they obviously aren't. I would prefer it more to call this trait as "observant". We human love to observe things, and everyone obviously aren't gifted with the ability to gain idea easily. A lot of people take a lot of times to look for an idea, and what's more, the idea might come in an unexpected moment. So usually, when they're trying to find some idea, which I would also call, looking for a way to be 'creative', they would search for things on internet, observing other people's work, or they would observe the things around them. Even during the ancient time they've done this, it doesn't imply to the people during this era only. For example, in Rome, most of the famous Rome arts are actually a copy of Greek's art. The sculpture that the Romans did were originally based on Greek's art. They just re-made them and improve them, which then makes it more renowned. Other than that, if you want more example, I'll tell you the more obvious one. Steve Job. When iPad was made, it 'WOW' the whole world. People are amazed. Absolutely amazed. However, who's idea was it first to make a tablet? yup that's right, Microsoft. Steve Job observe the thing that Microsoft invented, even though it was not renowned and not many really look at it, and then, he re-made them. IMPROVE them, and thus, it has become, a NEW thing. Shiny!

Bill Gate' first tablet

Steve Job's iPad

Not only that, those people who originally made the something without copying other's idea, also actually based on other, in someway or another. They are all based on what they see, what they observe, for example, the creation of the mother nature or the surrounding area, and then convert them into something. So basically, it is undeniable, that all people have this trait. Come on, don't lie, think back, about all the works that you've done, all the art piece you made, it was all based on your observation of other people's work or the thing surround you. You can never hide from it. Even I would admit. These has happen long since the ancient times.

Next, what kind of environment made people creative?

As for what I have researched, all kind of environment could affect us. And in fact, the environment that we live on during our childhood is would affect us the most. When I talk about the environment, I don't specifically meant the place surrounding us, but also, our lifestyle. People tend to get affected more when they were exposed to something for a long time, especially all the time during their childhood since children are easily affected, in a good way. Why I say in a good way is because, many of our famous people are all actually being exposed to such thing during their childhood. For example, Steve Job were raised in a place where there were many engineers, and thus, it has affect him into having those 'engineer brains' . As for the ancient Romans, they all lived during the times of Greek, when Greek are widely spread, and that too has affect them. Most of the Romans art are based on the Greek's style. Another good example are the Japanese people. Japan are one of the most creative inventor. They have invent some little simple thing but brilliantly. These are because Japan has been independent since the ancient time. During war when they don't have much allies, they practically done everything on their own without relying on other country to survive. They invent things, create a new way of solving things in order to survive. This has happen for a long time in Japan, they have been thinking creatively, and that has affect their generation as they were grew up in an environment when people could thing differently. Even in the way people has never thought of, or would even think ridiculous, because they have been raised to feel it's fine to think like that. Their limit of thinking is more than others. Last but not least, even our great musician also have the same situation. Ludwig van Beethoven. He was being exposed to music since he was born as his father himself was a musician. His childhood are surrounded by music, and music, has 'dissolved' in him and he has taken interest in it. And now, as we all know, he is a truly great musician indeed.

Lastly, the process of creativity.
For this, I would like to point out again about the childhood and traits. I think the process about getting someone to be creative actually start right away the moment you were born. I did not say it was too late to learn to be creative once you are an adult, because I like the saying, it's never too late! But the perfect process is that, you should be exposed into thinking creatively when you are young. Since when you are young, your mind are fresh, free from being influenced by people. As you grow up, no matter how you might try to avoid it, you will always get 'poison' by other people. Hearing people's experience, people saying, observing the world, would poison you, in both good way and bad way actually, but mostly bad, because it limit your creativeness. As a child, you would never thing of anything to be ridiculous. Have a flashback, when you're a little kid, thinking of creating a door that could teleport won't be ridiculous at all, but what about now? ridiculous isn't it? Such thing wont happen! everyone will grew to think that. But seriously, frankly speaking, I am not surprise if someday it would be invented. For example, the times before telephone was invented, surely, the people back then would think that it is impossible for you to talk to someone that are so far away without giving a solid thing to them (letter, etc). Such thing as telephone would be a magic. But it was invented anyway, by Alexander Graham Bell, as we all know.

" I invent phone, problem? "

His family are all have a connection in hearing and speaking, in someway or another. His father, grandfather and brother work on elocution and speech, and his wife and mother are deaf. Because he was surround by this kind of situation all his life, it has affected him. He has done research on hearing and speaking which then lead him into creating such device. See, the process is simple. You just have to be exposed, but be exposed in a right way, not the way that could poison and limit your 'access'. So parents, raised your children in a proper way. Don't let them down or discourage them.

The PC is dead, Long Live Tablet

When PC was invented, everyone thinks that it was the greatest thing and I'm pretty sure everyone think that nothing could compete with it.Computers are often getting upgraded as time pass by, and each time, it became better and much more better, which again, has made everyone believes that nothing can be greater than it.

"THIS IS DA BEST!"

However, once upon a year.............. TADAA~~~~~~

A TABLET APPEAR!

" WALAOWEH! "

so what is this flat rectangle thing???? something that shock the WORLD!
It was first being recognized by the world as iPad which was released by Apple company, though Microsoft did invented first, but Apple company made it renowned to the whole world. And then what???? the number of people using iPad are greatly increasing each day! and what's more, more and more company are joining this market and invent their own tablet with their own specialities. And because of that, tablet are widely used now. A lot of people are bringing tablet everywhere now rather than bringing laptops. It is obviously taking over the world bit by bit, but fast!

so now let's talk about how fast did this happen.
It was renowned somewhere in 2010, and by 2012, you can see people holding tablet everywhere already.

Tablet is a combination of so many things! By just holding this flat rectangle gadget, you're able to do so many things!

here a picture of the things that are " INSIDE " of tablet.

Could you ever believe it? You might not realize it but NOW YOU DO! 50 years ago, if you wanted to do anything that these things can do at some other place, you would need to carry like, I don't know, maybe 2 large bags???? one bag for each thing? it would be pretty tiring!
those who were born 50 years ago surely could never imagine that one day you could carry " all these things " with just one hand! And what's more, very light too!

So what does this tell us? Invention and innovation can happen in the way we would never expect! and fast too!

Sir Ken Robinson on TEDtalks

Again, I am terribly late for this post, it was supposed to be posted like..... last year?
heh, true, by last year of course I mean somewhere in 2012, right now is already 2013 whether you believe it or not.

So, somewhere last year, we were asked to watch a video on Sir Ken Robinson's talk and we were assigned to post what strike us the most about his talk. The talk was entitled "Do School Kill Creativity?"

If you ask me, personally, I could not point out any part that I think is the greatest in his speech. Why? because the whole speech itself are truly great. Whenever I try to think that " oh this part was good" but then as his speech goes, there are many other part that are as great as the one I think was great. Sir Ken Robinson is truly brilliant, and he does know what he is talking about. That is all what I can say. But maybe that is because I am not the type who listen to speeches that's why I don't have much comment about it. However, what I actually do want to say about his speeches  are, the way he give the speech. He doesn't just simply state his point, but he put it some humour in it, which make it enjoyable to listen. I watch the whole video even though I really dislike hearing speech, but truthfully, I find it quite enjoyable. He doesn't put any stupid or lame jokes, but he change the way he giving out the speech. He plays with the word and I think that, this is the real creativity.

Well, whatever I say, it is but a lie when I say there's no part that I like the most. Of course there is! some several words that I truly agree with.

The first one is when he say

"Now, I don’t mean to say that being wrong is the same thing as being creative. What we do know is, if you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original. If you’re not prepared to be wrong. And by the time they get to be adults, most kids have lost that capacity. They have become frightened of being wrong."

It is quite true, no, not quite, it is ultimately true. Some people may have some ideas in their mind. Perhaps some wild crazy but brilliant ideas! but they never say it out. Why? because they are afraid of people may object it. Or people might say something bad about it or strongly say it will never work. And that person himself, are afraid of creating a failure. This is what stops them! If only there are people around them who could support them and make them believe that they would succeed, then it's good. Perhaps this world could change a lot more to better than it is now. However, if there's no one to support them, then they themselves must support themselves. Like Thomas Edison. He fails 10,000 times, but he never give up. He still stick to his idea and keep trying until it works. And thanks to that, our world are now bright with wonderful lights.

The second part that I like in the speech was the part where he say

"Picasso once said this, he said that all children are born artists. The problem is to remain an artist as we grow up. I believe this passionately, that we don’t grow into creativity, we grow out of it. Or rather we get educated out of it. So why is this?"

So why is that? why are we being educate out of it? it is because sometimes we got scold for being creative whether you believe it or not. Take an example, I bet everyone have scribbles on their school's exercise book before, and then what do we get? scolding, yes, or we would even get punished for doing that. That is why, we are scared, of doing it, scared of putting our ideas and scribble it out. As we all know, ideas just don't come when you want it, ideas would come, OUT OF NOWHERE, it has happen to you hasn't it? for sure, idea don't just come to you when you call it, it will come when it wants to. Maybe in the toilet, maybe when you are eating, or when you are about to sleep, or even when teacher is busy teaching in front. Kids are especially rich with imagination and thus, they actually have a lot of ideas, and because they did not know what to do, the draw it out, doodle it, scribble it on what they could, and get scolding from it. And after that, they were taught not to do it anymore, and thus, they grow out of being creative, and just burn any idea that comes.

p/s: If you really want to hear the speech, let me save you from trouble and provide the link :) simply click here~!
and yea, not to forget, thanks to one of my classmate named Luqman for providing the link to Sir Ken Robinson speech transcript on his blog. ( I hardly understand his speech at first because of his wonderful accent)
